THE SITUATION
Despite global trends and growing charging infrastructure, Australia is falling behind with EV adoption. Public perception of EVs is often based on inaccurate information and old data.
How do we call attention to this, educate, inspire, and highlight advancements in technology, while promoting regional tourism and recapturing the nostalgia of the road trip?
CHARGE UP / DRAW DOWN
A primary focus of Fastforward was a road trip that would extend the length of the Queensland Electric Super Highway. The goal was to engage with selected regional councils, tourism industry, and businesses, as well as community groups, energy and electric vehicle industry representatives, and innovation specialists. This would be the Charge Up phase of a 2 week project.
After gathering information and insights while heading up the coast, a few intensive days would be spent collating, producing, and developing new materials to be delivered during the Draw Down phase…the return trip. These deliverables would be presentations that included video and design concepts, tailored to each regions needs and unique environment, in order to help them further the EV economy in their own communities.
RAPID VISUALISATION
Observations and ideas gathered while charging up are turned into rapid sketch render concepts for the draw down phase. Concepts would include ideas like deployable energy kiosks, ways in which to draw attention to existing charging infrastructure, and ways to educate the community on EV technology.
SOCIAL STORYTELLING
While developing the brand look/feel for Fastforward, I also created long-form narratives for social media which involved pragmatic information about EV technology, stats and comparisons, as well as news and other thoughts/ideas. This was delivered through a combination of photography, video, and motion graphics.
KEEPING UP WITH KAZAKHSTAN
At the time of this project, Kazakhstan had far more progressive EV policies than Australia…so Keeping Up With Kazakhstan became a recurring series.
